HoodStar Chantz is the newest and hottest artist on the rise of Break Dem Boys Entertainment . Born in Houston, Texas, Chantz was raised in the streets of fifth ward by his Christian grandmother who kept him active in church and a member of the choir. Troubled that Chantz would adopt the character and inner-city lifestyle that rap music endorses Chantz grandmother prohibited him from listening to that subgenre of hip hop. However, the realization that rapping is what Chantz wanted to proceed came to the artist at an early age. Against his grandmothers approval, Chantz sneaked and listened to rap music at each opportunity presented. At the age of 9 he wrote his first verse, "my name is Chantz I come to make you dance". Music was instilled in Chantz life from childhood. His early musical influences where his father Lonnie Mack who was a well-known DJ in the Houston Nightlife and his mother Gwendolyn Smith who was an artist herself in her era. The oldest of five from one parent and middle child of the other parent both of Chantz parents remain absent most of his lifetime. Chantz made the decision to leave his grandmother’s house and the age of sixteen . Concerned with the major influences of the street life his uncle David Stunts took Chantz in at the age of nineteen. David became the father and brother figure that Chantz so desperately needed. It was through his uncle’s acquaintances that Chantz early performances emerge. David introduced Chantz to Black Snow who allowed him to perform at open mic night at Mr. A’s a reputable nightclub in Houston based in the heart of Fifth Ward. It was after that one night that his passion for rap music evolved. Chantz made an investment into his career purchasing studio equipment and began recording his own music. He entered many talent shows in the greater Houston area winning most of them. Chantz quickly developed a stage presence with his unique southern lyrical sound and he’s originality. Chantz captivated the attention of DJ IIDeep (CEO) of DJz-N-Da-Hood. IIDEEP allowed Chantz to do a few performances at Mr. A’s Hoodnites and later SizurpSundays at Club Motions. The dedication put into his music and hard work made IIDeep comfortable to introduced Chantz to Young Samm one of IIDeep’s business partner and (CEO) of Break Dem Boys Off Entertainment. HoodStarChantz is currently working on his first mixtape “Greatest In The Making”.
